Alberta bans all Herbicide-Fertilizer Combination Products as of January 1, 2010. As of January 1, 2010 the province of Alberta has announced it’s banning of herbicide-fertilizer combination products commonly known as “Weed and Feed” or 2,4-D. This is a highly mobile chemical that runs off into storm drainage systems and subsequently into creeks and rivers. Some environmentalists have said 2,4-D is linked to cancer. More than 140 municipalities in Canada have bylaws restricting the use of pesticides. Fertilizer combined with herbicide products will no longer be sold or used in Alberta.Source
Your mower is a noisy, gas-guzzling, air-pollutant. “Your mower produces more pollution per hour than your car. Testing found operating a typical gasoline mower with a 4 cycle engine produced as much polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH’s) as driving a modern car 150km.” What is your time worth? We spend on average 90 minutes per week on our lawn which equates to 6 hours per month or 42 hours per year (Based on 7 months) maintaining our lawn. That is one full work week!
